Cockatoo island ship loading facility

Location:
Cockatoo Island, WA
Client:
Pluton Resources
Type:
Engineering, Procurement, Construction

As part of the Cockatoo Island Stage 4 sea wall project, Pluton Resources was required to remove the fixed crushing plant and ore storage shed to gain access to the ore body. Process 26 was engaged to complete the dismantling of the crushing plant and reconfiguration of the ship loader reclaim system to accommodate the installation of a new mobile crushing plant at an alternative site location.  The reclaim system works involved removal of 160m of conveyor and the relocation of the two reclaim hoppers.

Process 26 was responsible for all engineering, concrete installation, structural/ mechanical erection and the electrical works associated with the project.  A new electrical control board was supplied as part of the project and integrated into the 1940’s shiploader.

Due to the remoteness of project and costs associated with getting equipment on and off the island, we developed solutions that maximised the use of existing equipment on site, minimised concrete volumes and completed detailed lift studies to ensure that unloading of the barge and movement of equipment on site could be completed with the cranage available.
