Bauxite Hills Dso Bauxite Project
Process 26 were engaged by Metro Mining to design and construct a 1500tph barge loading facility for their Bauxite Hills DSO project on the Cape York Peninsula in far north Queensland.
The facility consists of a reclaim hopper and apron feeder that can be fed from two sides by Cat 988 loaders, and a 300m overland conveyor and barge loading stacker.
The overland conveyor feeds a radial telescoping stacker that produces a linear stockpile on the transfer barges. The stacker is mounted on a floating pontoon.
The overland conveyor has a fixed transfer point at the mid-section for on stream sampling and a hinged head end section to accommodate the tidal movement.
All materials were barged to site and thus all components had to meet stringent weight and dimensional restrictions.
The design of the conveyor had to ensure minimal environmental disturbance during construction of the facility.
Process 26 was responsible for all civil, mechanical and structural design. Fabrication and procurement activities were managed inhouse, with Process 26 completing the structural mechanical installation works.
Process 26 was responsible for the commissioning of the facility which was completed within 6 months from award.
