Argyle Surge Pile Trestle Protection
Process 26 was engaged by Argyle Diamonds Limited to construct two pre-cast concrete protection systems for the trestles of conveyor CV109. This conveyor was installed as part of the underground expansion project and runs adjacent to the secondary crushed stockpile.
The scope of works included:
1. Supply and installation of a galvanized steel frame, and the installation of pre-cast concrete panel wall sections within the frame assembly.
2. For the second trestle, construction of a of pre-cast concrete tilt-up panel assembly within the confines of the stockpile base.
Process 26 provided the management, fabrication, supervision, labour and equipment to complete the works. Additionally, safe work method statements for the installation of the tilt-up panels were developed in conjunction with Argyle. High pressure grouting operations were performed as a part of the works.
The structures were installed in close proximity to the live stockpile and Process 26 was required to collaborate with mine operations to ensure a safe working environment.
The construction was completed safely without any incidents and the project schedule was maintained throughout the works.
